Health and Wellbeing
Do not allow your new kitten to have contact with other pets, or with kittens from other sources, until they are fully vaccinated.
Failure to follow this advice may expose your kitten to a range of feline viruses.
Ensure all other household pets are up to date with their vaccinations.
If a kitten is housed with other cats and/or pets in the household, or is allowed outdoors, no claim can be made against the breeder should the kitten contract a virus.
We expect new owners to provide a warm, safe, and caring environment for their kitten, and to take all reasonable steps to keep the kitten happy and healthy. Any health concerns must be addressed with a veterinarian immediately. The breeder will not be liable for any veterinary costs.
This care includes regular parasite treatments, routine veterinary check-ups, and vaccinations.
Kittens are fed Royal Canin tinned food as well as Royal Canin kitten biscuits. If you wish to change your kitten's diet to another brand, please do so gradually over a few weeks to help prevent an upset stomach.
All kittens have received regular worm and flea treatment.
Your New Kitten
All our Moonshadows breeding cats are DNA-tested for known genetic diseases and traits, and all results are clear.

Our Maine Coon breeding cats also undergo hip assessments via X-rays taken by a registered veterinarian. These X-rays are submitted to PawPeds for final assessment and are recorded in the PawPeds database.
Our Maine Coon breeders also have echocardiograms performed by a registered HCM tester. The results of these tests are likewise recorded in the PawPeds database.
We are proud to say that the HCM testing of our Maine Coon breeding lines is for at least three generations.

In the Far North, we are fortunate to have access to skilled and knowledgeable veterinarians, with whom we work in partnership to ensure the welfare of all our animals.
We also work closely with trusted breeder friends who generously share their wealth of knowledge, advice, and information with us.
